UEFA Champions League Final – The Venue, The Referee & An All Spanish Affair

Venue: San Siro

  1. The football temple of Italy, home to A.C. Milan and Inter Milan, the majestic Guiseppe Maezza Stadium aka San Siro, will host the 2016 UEFA Champions League Final.
  2. Since being built in 1926, this will be the fourth European Cup final at the San Siro. (Earlier finals: 1965, 1970, 2001)
  3. For the first time in history the final of the Champions League will have a live Musical performance at the Stadium by United States singer, Alicia Keys.

 

Referee: Mark Clattenburg

  1. English referee Mark Clattenburg will oversee the 2016 UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.
  2. Clattenburg has handled six Champions League matches this season, including two involving Atlético and one withReal Madrid.
  3. The Englishman, 41, will complete a cup final double after handling the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium on 21 May.
  4. Clattenburg has already been picked by UEFA  to referee at the European Championship in France.

 

All Spanish Teams Champions League Finals

This is third occasion the Champions League finals will be contested by Spanish teams.

Past Finals:

  1. 1999-2000- Real Madrid v/s Valencia(3-0)
  2. 2013-2014- Real Madrid v/s Atlético Madrid (4-1)
