SWEDEN vs BELGIUM – EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2016

SWEDEN vs BELGIUM HEAD-TO-HEAD

Belgium have won 7, lost 5 & drawn 2 of their matches against Sweden.

They’ve met in a major competition only once – Belgium beat Sweden 2-1 in the Euro 2000 opener, a tournament they co-hosted.

Sweden’s last win against Belgium dates back to a 2-0 success in a 1962 World Cup qualifier.

The Countries last met in a friendly in June 2014. Romelu Lukaku & Eden Hazard both scored in what was an away game for Belgium.

SWEDEN

This is Sweden’s fifth successive & sixth overall European Championship appearance. They last qualified from the group stages at Euro 2004.

They have lost 5, drawn 1 & won only 1 of their last seven matches at the European Championships.

Since the introduction of the group stages in 1980, Sweden are the first and the only team to have failed to hit the target in their first two games at a European Championship.

BELGIUM

Belgium’s best finish at a major tournament is a runners-up position at Euro 1980 when they lost to West Germany in the final.

A victory against Sweden will give Belgium back-to-back European Championship victories for the first time.

In his last six appearances for Belgium, Lukaku has scored 6 goals.

In his last 10 appearances for Belgium, Kevin De Bruyne has played a part in 10 goals – 5 goals, 5 assists.
