Preview: Sri Lanka Tour of England

Sri Lanka vs England
  1. England will be hosting Sri Lanka for the 9th time in a test series. In the previous 8 occasions, England has won 4 while Sri Lanka has won twice, while 2 series were drawn.
  2. The teams will play a 3 match test series starting on May 19th at Headingley, Leeds. The 2nd test on May 27th is in Durham and the 3rd on June 9th is at Lord’s.
  3. England has won 10 and Sri Lanka 8 in the 28 test matches the two sides have played till date.
  4. England & Sri Lanka will also be playing a 5 match ODI series and 1 T20 International.
  5. Sri Lankan bowler, Dhammika Prasad has been ruled out of the 1st test due to a shoulder injury.
  6. Dhammika Prasad had taken a match winning 5-50 to lead Sri Lanka to a series victory in Headingley in 2014.
  7. In 2014, when the 2 sides met in a 2 match test series, after a drawn opener, Sri Lanka won the 2nd match at Leeds with just one ball to spare.
  8. Sri Lanka are currently 7th in the ICC Test rankings, if Sri Lanka win all 3 matches it will move them to the 6th position with 98 points.
  9. England is currently at the 4th position with 105 points, if England wins all 3 matches they will be at 109 points.
  10. Alastair Cook is on 9964 runs, just 36 short of the 10,000 run test mark- a figure no English Man has ever achieved.
  11. The 25 year old Hampshire batsman James Vince is expected to make his England Test debut against Sri Lanka this week.
