ATP World Tour 250 Series

Qatar Open

  1. Djokovic reached the final without losing a set
  2. In the final the Serb defeated Nadal to reach a career milestone of 60 titles, becoming the 10th player to do so
  3. With the win in Qatar, Djokovic surpassed his own record of the highest number of career points (16790) accumulated in the ATP rankings



ATP World Tour 500 Series

Dubai Tennis Championships

  1. It was his 10th consecutive Dubai Tennis Championship, out of which he won the title 4 times
  2. Novak joined the elite club of 700 wins (12th player since the Open Era), when he defeated Malek Jaziri in the second round.
  3. In the quarter final against Feliciano Lopez the Serbian was forced to retire due to an eye ailment.


ATP World Tour 1000 Series

Indian Wells Masters

  1. The four time champion defeated Bjorn Fratangelo in a tough first match.
  2. Djokovic cruised till the semi-final, where he faced Nadal.
  3. In the semi-final Novak defeated the Spaniard (6th time in a row) to reach his 6th Indian Wells final.
  4. The final was a walk in the park for the Serbian, when he defeated Milos Raonic in just 77minutes to claim his 5th Indian Wells Masters title.
  5. At this point, Novak (No.1) had more ATP points than Andy Murray (No.2) & Roger Federer (No.3) combined.

 Miami Open

  1. Novak got a walk over in the first round & vanquished Kyle Edmund in just 2 sets of the second round.
  2. On his way to the final, he wiped out Joao Sousa, Dominic Thiem, Tomas Berdych & David Goffin.
  3. Djokovic improved his 2016 record to 28-1, when he comfortably defeated Kei Nishikori in the final to claim his 4th Title of the year.

Monte – Carlo Masters

  1. As it is at most tournaments these days, Djokovic entered the Monte-Carlo Masters as the favourite.
  2. Surprisingly he was knocked out by Jiri Vesely in the second round.
  3. This was the Serbian’s earliest exit in a Masters tournament for nearly 2 years.

Madrid Open

  1. Novak got a first round bye and defeated Borna Coric & Roberto Bautista Agut on his way to the latter stages of the tournament.
  2. The Serb proved that he is classes apart from Milos Raonic & Kei Nishikorie, when he thrashed both the youngsters before setting up a dream final with Andy Murray.
  3. In a thrilling final Novak defeated Murray to clinch victory & set a new record of 29 master 1000 titles surpassing Nadal at 28.

Italian Open x

  1. Djokovic got a walkover in the first round but Stephane Robert gave the Serbian a tough test in the 3rd
  2. The road to the final was not at all easy for Novak, as he survived stern performances from Thomas Bellucci, Rafael Nadal & Kei Nishikorie.
  3. In the final Djokovic was defeated by Andy Murray (6-3, 6-3) only for the second time in 14 meetings between them.

Grand Slam Tournaments

Australian Open

  1. Djokovic clinched his 10th consecutive win in Australian Open first round without dropping a set, when he defeated Chung Hyeon.
  2. On the way to his 27th straight Grand Slam quarter final, He defeated Quentin Halys (France), Andreas Seppi (Italy) & Gilles Simon (France) in the 2nd, 3rd & 4th round respectively.
  3. Djokovic entered his 6th straight Australian Open Final ( new record) by beating Kei Nishikori (quarter) & Roger Federer (semi) comfortably.
  4. In the final Novak thrashed the World No 2 Andy Murray just under 3 hours to claim his 6th title in Melbourne equaling Roy Emerson’s record.
