1. Virat Kohli is the first Indian captain to score more than 50 in his maiden Test innings in the West Indies.

2. Kohli is the third Indian captain to score a Test century in West Indies. Kapil Dev & Rahul Dravid are the other two.

3. He has scored 5 Test centuries as a captain. All these centuries were scored outside India, equalling Mohammad Azharuddin’s record of most centuries by an Indian captain away from home.

4. As a captain, his average in Test matches away from home is second only to Don Bradman among those who’ve batted in 10 or more innings.

5. Kohli’s first 1000 runs as Test captain came in just 18 innings, making him the joint second-quickest Indian captain to reach the milestone. Sunil Gavaskar, who got there in 14 innings, was the quickest.

6. Kohli’s unbeaten 143 is the second-highest score by an Indian player on the opening day of a Test in West Indies. Virender Sehwag 180 at Gros Islet in 2006 is the highest.

7. Shikhar Dhawan’s 84 is the fourth highest score by an Indian player in his maiden Test innings in West Indies. The top three are Polly Umrigar’s 130 in 1952/53, Brijesh Patel’s 115* in 1975/76 & Ajay Jadeja’s 96 in 1996/97.

8. Kohli & Dhawan average partnership for the third wicket in Tests is 110.80, which is the third highest among pairs that have five or more partnerships.
