Even Gods can fall – Ronda Rousey vows to return stronger

On Sunday in the UFC 193 match, the reigning champion Ronda Rousey was at the receiving end of a devastating left kick from Holly Holm. This resulted in a knouckout that terminated Ronda Rousey’s undefeated mixed martial arts (MMA) record. However, it is unlikely to have caused much damage to her spirit.

On her official Instagram account Rousey uploaded a picture with the text:

“I just want to thank everyone for the love and support. I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine. As I had mentioned before, I’m going to take a little bit of time, but I’ll be back.”

The 28-year-old former Olympian was knocked out 59 seconds into the second round of the bantamweight title fight. She was hospitalized for a split lip, according to FOX Sports, but assured supporters, “I’m fine.”

Rousey was an unstoppable force in the sport, undefeated in 12 bouts before this, and has become one of the biggest sport stars in the US in particular because of her dominance.

This fight was brought forward two months so that it could take place in Australia to broaden her appeal.

While Rousey’s loss came as a surprise to fans, interestingly enough, it turns out that the 28-year-old fighter may have predicted the exact way she would come down. During an October appearance onThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Rousey quoted on Holm: “She’s undefeated and an amazing athlete and I think the biggest threat, definitely, to me, especially on paper and stylistically. She’s the type of fighter that you have to be very, very patient with. I feel like she’s gonna try and like, keep distance and keep far away from me and get me frustrated until a point I’ll make a mistake and she can try and kick me in the head.”

Turns out, the kick to the head was the exact way Holm brought down Rousey, and even left her briefly unconscious.

But this is Ronda Rousey we are talking about. She definitely will be back.
