Manchester United continued their poor run in the EPL following a disappointing 1-2 defeat at the hands of Norwich City at Old Trafford.

Cameron Jerome 38th minute opener coupled with Alexander Tettey second half strike proved too much for the Red Devils, who were only able to score a consolation through Anthony Martial.

United started the game on a very positive note as they managed to find the back of the net in the 10th minute. However, the goal was ruled out as offside.

Memphis Depay then narrowly curled an effort over the crossbar in the 15th minute, before Rooney dragged his shot wide, following a good run from Juan Mata.

The hosts continued to dominate and create chances as Daley Blind’s corner narrowly evaded the heads of Chris Smalling and Marouane Fellaini at the half hour mark.

However, despite United’s dominance in the opening stages of the game, it was Norwich who took the lead in the 38th minute through Jerome.

A lightening quick counter from the visitors saw Nathan Redmond slip a pass into the path of Jerome, who, after evading a challenge from Michael Carrick, slotted the ball home from close range.

Things became even worse for United in the second half as Norwich doubled their lead through Tettey in the 54th minute. The Canaries again hit the hosts on the break after some poor play from Rooney and Carrick resulted in United losing possession near the halfway line. Jerome, after managing to get clear of his marker (Phil Jones), sent a beautiful pass towards Tettey, who made no mistakes as he poked the ball past De Gea from 20 yards out.

United, who had found little success in Norwich City’s penalty area so far in the match, finally managed to find the back of the net in the 66th minute through Martial. Mata whipped in a good delivery into the box and Rooney managed to nod the ball towards Martial, who found the nets with a thumping 12-yard effort past Declan Rudd.

United threatened to grab the equaliser in the closing stages of the game as Mata forced a good save from Rudd in the 80th minute, before Smalling dragged his effort wide, after getting clean through on goal in the second minute of added time. However, they failed to find the back of the net and the game finally ended 1-2 in Norwich City’s favour.
