ENGLAND vs ICELAND HEAD-TO-HEAD

England are unbeaten in two matches against Iceland – 1 win (6-1 in a Euro 2004 warm-up game) & 1 draw (1-1 in a 1982 World Cup warm-up game).

England have reached the knock-out stages in successive European Championships for the first time.

It’s been 10 matches (excluding penalty shoot-outs) since England lost at the Euros.

England’s last four knock-out matches at the Euros have gone to penalties. They won the first (against Spain in 1996), but have lost the last three (Germany – 1996; Portugal – 2004; Italy – 2012).

Wayne Ronney (114 caps) is one game short of equalling David Beckham’s record (115 caps) of most games by an outfield player for England.

Rooney’s first  3 England appearances at major tournaments yielded 4 goals. His next 17 appearances have seen him score just 2.

ICELAND

Iceland have been beaten just once in their last 9 competitive matches – 4 wins & 4 draws.

Iceland started all their Euro 2016 group games with the same line-up. Spain were the only other team to do so.

Goalkeeper Hannes Thor Halldorsson has made the most number of saves at Euro 2016 – 18.

Halldorsson found striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson with passes / long-kicks on 30 occasions – the most from a goalkeeper to a striker at Euro 2016.
