EPL: Arsenal vs Manchester City – Prediction

[box type=”shadow” align=”alignleft” class=”” width=””]Prediction:Arsenal may have a shaky start, but should balance up their game. Despite the energy, Manchester City may go toothless. We see Manchester City struggling in front of Arsenal even if they have better share of possession. In the end, Arsenal may be able to break the Draw and win by at least a goal’s margin. 2-1 in favour of Arsenal should be ideal, if not a Draw.[/box]

Arsenal and Manchester City come face to face in a top of the table clash at the Emirates, as both sides look to close the gap between themselves and Premier League leaders Leicester City.

Since their 0-2 defeat to West Ham on the opening day of the season, the Gunners have done pretty well, with them currently sitting in the second place in the EPL table, five points behind leaders Leicester City.

The Gunners, who are the only side to have beaten Leicester City this season, could have been at the top of the table, had they not had a slight dip of form in November. From the three EPL games they played that month, Arsenal were only able to pick up two points, following two draws and a defeat against Tottenham Hotspur (1-1), Norwich City (1-1) and West Brom (1-2) respectively.

However, the North London club have managed to make a good comeback, recording back-to-back wins their last two games against Sunderland (3-1) and Aston Villa (2-0). With defending Champions Chelsea, who recently sacked their manager Jose Mourinho, hovering near the regelation zone, and Manchester United and Liverpool also not doing that well of late, this may finally prove to be Arsenal’s lucky season in the EPL.

Nevertheless, the Gunners still have to worry about the in-form Leicester City and the third placed Manchester City, who are only a single point behind them in the table.

While Arsenal have already recorded a convincing 5-2 victory over the Foxes at the King Power stadium, earlier this season, they will certainly not be able to beat Manchester City that easily on Monday.

Still, the Gunners will be desperate to get maximum points from this fixture as a win will see them go four points clear of Pellegrini’s men. While a draw will also not be a very bad result (as they will still be within reaching distance of Leicester City), a defeat will see them drop to the third place.

Manchester City

After starting their 2015/16 EPL campaign on a very positive note following successive wins in their first five fixtures against West Brom (3-0), Chelsea (3-0), Everton (2-0), Watford (2-0) and Crystal Palace (1-0), City’s form saw a sudden dip as they lost their next two games against West Ham (1-2) and Tottenham Hotspur (1-4).

The Citizens again played well to pick up 11 points from their next five fixtures, before suffering another crushing defeat at the hands of Liverpool. Since then, City’s form has been pretty inconsistent, with them recording two wins and two defeats in their last four EPL fixtures.

Although City have been quite strong at home this season, getting maximum points at the Etihad, they have been very poor on the road, failing to record a single win in their last four away matches. In addition, Pellegrini’s men have also failed to score a single goal in their last three away fixtures against Manchester United (0-0), Aston Villa (0-0) and Stoke City (0-2).

So it will be interesting to see whether Manchester City will be able to do well in an away fixture against the in-form Arsenal side on Monday.

Expected Lineups

Arsenal: Cech; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Ramsey, Flamini; Campbell, Ozil, Walcott; Giroud.

Manchester City: Hart; Sagna, Otamendi, Mangala, Clichy; Fernandinho, Toure; De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling; Aguero.
